OUR BUILDING'S MISSIONS

We have long seen our church building as part of our mission, as we welcome outside groups to use the building.  We have been a polling place for elections, neighborhood groups have met in our building, and we have provided overnight lodging for the unhoused during the coldest months of the year (working with St. Louis Winter Outreach).

Currently, two other congregations are using our building for worship: Urimuru Seventh Day Adventist Church and Glory to Glory Christian Church United Church of Christ.  The Ignite Theatre Company, a youth theatre group, is housed in our building.  The Black Tulip Chorale rehearses at St. Paul UCC and has its offices in our building.

If you or your group is looking for space for a gathering, give us a call at 314-772-4772 or e-mail stpauluccsec@att.net.

St. Louis Winter Outreach

St. Louis Winter Outreach is a grassroots volunteer organization that provides life-saving support to unhoused individuals on nights when the temperatures drops below 20 degrees (25 with precipitation.)  Volunteer teams drive through the city on these deadly cold nights offering blankets and other survival items and proving transportation to shelters whenever possible.  Because of the shortage of shelter space on these very cold nights, Winter Outreach has partnered with churches and other community organizations to provide emergency “overflow” shelters.  In Winter 2020, St. Paul UCC provided space for one of these emergency shelters two nights per week.  Because other shelter locations were not able to open Winter 2021 due to COVID-19, St. Paul’s building was used by Winter Outreach volunteers any night of the week when the activation temperature is forecasted and offered accommodations for up to 30 guests.  Volunteer teams at the St. Paul shelter location were led by facilitators from Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis, Glory to Glory UCC, St. Pius V Catholic Church, Christ Church cathedral, Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church and Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with volunteers drawn from those congregations and the community at large.
